The Great Spa or Great Baths at Bagnères-de-Bigorre were built from 1823 to 1828 and were once known as the “Marie-Thérèse Spa,” in honor of the duchesse d’Angoulême, the daughter of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The duchesse laid the foundation stone of the Great Spa on July 8, 1823, which is depicted in the bottom image.
