It always sort of makes me giggle when I check the Marie Antoinette tag and there’s people saying “So and so is a descendant of Marie Antoinette” or “I found out I’m descended from Marie Antoinette”.

No guys, no one is a descendant of Marie Antoinette.

None of her children had any children, therefore it’s biologically impossible for you or anyone else to be her descendant. Her two sons died before they became teenagers, little Sophie died as a baby, and Marie Therese never had children.

So maybe you’re a descendant of a relative of hers, but you are not descended from her.

“Marie Therese never had children.” Hey, that doesn’t stop people from claiming they’re descended from her secret, illegitimate children that history ‘covered up’! Because if you can’t find a legitimate link between yourself and a historical figure… make one up.
